Otto was our gentle giant, all softness and quiet devotion, with a tenderness that seemed to fill the whole house. He had a way of inhabiting the spaces between things: doorways, chair backs, the breadth of the bed; he turned ordinary moments into quiet company. He left us far too soon; we love him and miss him.
